I'm working strictly from memory, here, but I believe the monkey is "for sale" as a pet (in India)? (Selling a monkey for a pet is illegal but the practice is still widespread, wherever this photo was taken.) The monkey (female) had "adopted" the puppy and spends hours a day hugging it.
this may seem cute, but the monkey and the dog are not likely living in loving conditions, owning a monkey is illegal and is usually done with cruelty. look closer to the photo, you will see the ring around his neck and these two animals look traumatized!!
